Finding Good Books in the Mire

If you’re like me, it’s getting more and more difficult to weed through the garbage and find new books. Books that are good. Books that are worth your time and hard-earned money. I have a kindle, but haven’t been able to rely on Amazon to recommend a good book for a long time. Recommendations from friends is always good. Other than that, here are a few recommendations:

1. Follow a publisher on social media and sign up for their newsletter. Fore example, I write for Hachette’s imprint, Forever. They have a monthly newsletter and have a wide selection of romance genres written by highly talented writers. Forever’s books are professionally edited (with several passes…I know), they have professional covers, and some are in mass market so you can pick them up at Walmart or Target or Barnes and Noble. Other reputable publishers to follow are Avon, Random House, Pocket, Kensington and Saint Martin’s Press.
2. Follow your favorite authors on social media. Also, go to their websites and sign up for their newsletters. In my case I don’t like to be bombarded with e-mail, but if it’s one of my favs, I don’t mind a monthly e-mail. If it’s not for you, you can always unsubscribe. Have you signed up for my newsletter? 3. Join a book review group. I have just started the Historical Romance Enthusiast group on Facebook where people post reviews about books they love (why post about crappy books, right?). I’d love to have you join. I post my favorites as well. You can also find a group supporting any genre you’re interested in on Goodreads. And you can follow me on Goodreads here.
4. Another way to follow authors you love incognito is through Book Bub. They often send out new release alerts and special e-mails when the author(s) you’re following is sponsoring a sale. Follow me on Book Bub here.
