I can’t tell you how surprised I was to win the RT Reviewers’ Choice Award for my traditionally published debut, THE HIGHLAND DUKE. There are so many exceptional authors, I have no idea how the judges can pick just one in each category.
THE HIGHLAND DUKE was my first foray into working with a big publisher and it has been an amazing journey. Many of my writer friends advised against publishing with New York, but I can honestly say that working with Hachette/Grand Central’s Forever imprint has been the right move for me.
There are so many people to thank—my agent Elaine Spencer, my editors Leah Hultenschmidt and Caroline Acebo. To the Hachette art department for their awesome covers. To my husband, Bob, who puts up with my insane writing schedule. To my mother for encouraging me to reach for my dreams no matter how impossible they seem.
Also, heartfelt thanks to RT and their fabulous convention. They bring thousands of readers together with introverted writers who usually sit in their home offices in their pajamas and only venture out when their cupboards are bare…or in my case, to attend karate lessons.
Finally, I want to thank every reader out there. Story is the foundation of our imaginations. And without fans with whom to share those stories, our lives would be unimaginably dull. No matter what you read, no matter the authors you love. I thank you.
